Shanghai Trip ☛ part 3 ☚ Food

Posted by Reilalala at 8:53 PM 0 comments
And I am back in record time, to make the third part of my shanghai trip. Today's topic is...FOOD!

One of my biggest expectation going back to China was the food. Yea sure, there's "chinese food" in America, but it's changed to fit the taste of American people. There's no dish call the chicken broccoli and the rice that comes with it will surely make you gain a pound or two (yuck, kind of make you think twice before getting one huh?) The other down part is that all of the ingredient imported from China is frozen, which means they will never taste as good as where it came from. Photobucket

Although I didn't have much of an appetite due to jetlag, I still got to taste a couple of really delicious things. Photobucket

The first is hot clam chowder soup with a crispy bread on top from Pizza Hut! The pizza hut in china is more like a regular restaurant than a fast food joint. There's also a lot more flavor to choose from than we have here. This clam chowder soup used to be my favorite dish when I was little so I had to try it again! But sadly, it didn't meet my expectations, maybe it's because I set too high of a standard but it wasn't as savory nor creamy as it used to be. Photobucket

Next up is a dish that apparently was my favorite also, according to my mom. She said I use to call them little people and bite off their heads. Photobucket Anyways, I was first kind of disturbed when it came, because they really do look like little people!

Am I right or am I right, haha, but eventually I took a bite and I totally loved it! I'm not sure exactly what they are, but I suppose they are in the same family as clams. Be careful ordering this in a restaurant though, because they usually contain a lot of sand, and most of the time they are not properly cleaned which can make the eating process really uncomfortable Photobucket

Ok, now I know this looks. . .rather strange and maybe even gross, but this was probably the best thing I had when I was in China. In fact, we had to order a second plate because it was sooo good! Photobucket What is it you ask? STINKY TOFU! (Behind it is just scallion pankcake, pay no attention to that.) I'm not sure what kind of tofu they used but basically it's just fried tofu to the max. It usually comes with a small plate of hot sauce Very unhealthy because it's fried, but very very delicious!

This is the SHINSENGUMI RAMEN! Also one of my favorite ramen house, there's dupes of this shop here in the states, but none of them taste as good as the one in China! Of course if it's in Japan will be even better. I believe I got the roasted duck ramen, whenever I order noodles I usually leave the soup, but this soup is too good to waste! We also had gyoza because the waitress sent it to the wrong table, my cousin didn't want them to take it back so she ordered me to finish it immediately Photobucket They found out in  the end and tried to make us pay, but my cousin is a beast when she fight, so we didn't have to pay extra in the end~ Photobucket

So now comes the small snacks~ We were on our way to visit my grandfathers grave and one of my aunt had  fresh pork jerky. This one was so tender and flavorful, a lot better than the packaged ones, but if you can't find fresh ones, pre-made ones are pretty good too! Photobucket

Strawberry & Vanilla Glico~ Once I opened the package, I was sure I smelt this before. Then I took a bite and immediately knew what it was, it tastes just like the yanyan cup that I loved since little. Perfect alternative if you can't find the other!

Asia always have weird flavors to their products, this one for example is the Red wine chocolate glico. I was curious about the flavor so I picked one up. The taste of grape was very profound, it matched really well with the dark chocolate. Although I'm sure the content of wine is not that high, my stomach felt warm afterwards.

I am a matcha crazed fan, everytime I see food that has green tea flavor I instantly go and grab it. This one is call the green tea mousse pocky. Since most of the green tea sweets I've had either mixed too much cream or too much sugar. I was surprised when I had this, the greent ea flavor is very clean and pure, more on the bland side which I love because green tea should just be green tea. I really really love this flavor, and I had to go back to buy more so I can bring it back Photobucket

Now the final thing is this cappuccino. I didn't really care for this at all  Photobucket What I cared was anything but the drink.  The cafe was filled with teddy bears! Not small ones, but giant life size ones, my and my cousin weren't sure where to sit since the bears took up quite a few seats and it was already very crowded.

I ended up sitting right next to one, it was so cute and fluffy! There's another one chilling on the couch. Photobucket

And another stuck on the shelf. . .Photobucket

We got to see how the bears are treated around here. A couple came in and had to sit there so the girl put the poor bear on the table Photobucket

That ends my food journey in Shanghai, but there's still more topics to come, I think the next one I'll do fashion!

Bye bye

Shanghai Trip ☛ part 2 ☚ Beauty

Here comes the second part of my Shanghai Haul!

But before that...

I got my ears pierced! My paranoid parents wouldn't let me get one until I turn 18 lol, its still in the process of healing so it hurts a little Photobucket

Anyways, I was able to get my hands on a few things that weren't available in New York. Most of them are either wayyy over priced (Uh, 30 dollar for a tube of mascara ? Photobucket No thanks!)  or they only came in selected types. So, since they are all manufactured in Asia, the price is a lot cheaper in comparison Photobucket

OK! Let's start with a product that is super popular right now. BB cream!

Beauty bloggers everywhere had some sort of definition for this product. So I won't post a whole essay about it but I'll give a small introduction. BB cream, or AKA the Blemish Balm Cream first started in Germany. A few Korea celebrities started using this product and well, a star was born! The texture of a BB cream is light like a moisturizer but covers like a foundation. Though unlike foundations, BB cream actually contains properties that could help to whiten your skin, lighten your acne scars and also help improve wrinkles. All the while making you face look natural and glowy.  Sounds nice? It is! Photobucket

Only recently did I start using BB creams, and boy do I regret not using this earlier. The downside was that where I live, each bottle of BB cream cost about 40 - 60 dollars. Photobucket  In china? Approximately 18 dollars. . . I grabbed it immediately haha. Photobucket

The BB Diamond Collection: The prestige BB cream
Wrinkle Improvement
Whitening
UV protecting SPF 25 PA++

This BB cream is a shade lighter than my face, but that's because it has diamond power and jewel complexion powder infused in the cream. Which when used on cheeks, forehead or chin can help highlight and brighten the face.

Majolica Majorca : Lash Enamel Glamour Volume On Mascara
(Yes this is the 30 dollar tube of mascara I was talking about.)

The comb like applicator kind of reminds me of cockroaches...maybe it's because I saw too many cockroaches in china? Photobucket

Dolly wink: Liquid Eye liner in Deep Black

Finally able to replace my old one, this is my favorite eyeliner!

Bobbi Brown Kabuki brush

Now, I don't know if Bobbie Brown ever came out with this type of Kabuki brush before. But for as far as I know, he never did. This was placed next to a real Bobbie Kabuki brush that I picked up, but the sales lady talked me into getting this one instead. Since it was cheaper and her reason sounded pretty convincing, I went for it. I'm not angry or upset because I only paid like 6 dollars for it, and the quality isn't actually that bad!

The brush is very dense, and super super soft. It also picks up my powder fairly well and does a good job buffing it into my skin. The only downside is that it smells really gross, but I am hoping it goes away after a while.

So I didn't become a mask junki up until early this year, but of course the same problem as the mascara, they are pretty expensive. Those masks were just a few that I grabbed out of my suit case, there's still a whole hand full left out.  And that just means, MASK REVIEWS! I'll be doing reviews on each and everyone of these, after I finish posting all of my hauls.

Chocolate Truffle - Moisturizing & softening the face YUm! Photobucket

Earl Grey Tea & Macaron - Illuminating & clarifying the face
I haven't tried this one yet but I smelt it when my cousin tired it, and its super sweet Photobucket

Aloe Vera

Japanese cherry blossom

Strawberry Yogurt (yum again!)

Apple Polyphenol

Hydrangea

Orange blossom

Next up will be nail products! I got these beautiful silver flakes, they are great for gradient nail designs or if you're up to it, sparkly french nails Photobucket

They were also selling these mini O.P.I polishes, so cute I couldn't resist picking them up. They were only 2 dollars for 3!

I was going to give them all to my friend as a souvenir, but I ended up really liking the sparkly one so I kept that one hehehe Photobucket

Oh I almost forgot, I also had my nails done while I was there! They were also really cheap Photobucket  oh, how I wish NY is like that. It was fun though, my first time doing gel extensions, now I can abuse my nails however I want without worrying about breaking them ~ Photobucket

And that was an extremely long post! Photobucket  All of these items will be up for review as soon as I finish posting everything I bought. I'll even try out doing my first nail tutorial.

Bye bye! Photobucket

P.S. Next up is FOOD! Get a towel ready because some of them are known to increase saliva production. You've been warned!
